It’s that time of year again, the smell of pine and sugar cookies, the fireplace burning bright next to a tree filled with twinkling lights and stockings. The Christmas season is in full swing, the hustle, and bustle of gift shopping, wrapping, Christmas party after Christmas party, and of course those classic Christmas movies! The traditions that each family has this time of year are always near dear to each one. However with the busyness of life, it can cause us to take our hearts and minds off the real reason we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

As you celebrate the season and all the joy it brings, try to not lose sight of the real Christmas story. God sent His son to earth as a baby, born to a virgin in a manger, to be our Savior who then takes on each and every one of our sins before dying an excruciating death. And why? Because He loves us. God loves us so much He gave His son to us, in human form, not in an extravagant way, but in a humbling manner. During this Christmas season enjoy the time with your families, your traditions, but don’t lose sight of how amazingly loved we are that we were given a Savior! Merry Christmas!

“Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. ‘I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior-yes, the Messiah, the Lord has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David. And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth lying in a manger” Luke 2: 9-12
